
For Vodka cherries (or Rum Cherries), buy a half gallon of maraschino cherries and pour off the juice, refill the jar with alcohol and in just 3 days they are ready to go. They only absorb a certain amount of alcohol then stop, you really don't need a long soak.
Cut a hole in a watermelon and pour in as much vodka as it will take, repeat twice a day for 2 days, then slice it up ( keep the fruit refrigerated just to be on the safe side) .
